KPMG: The Power of Partnerships

The work of Women’s College Hospital Foundation (WCHF) to raise funds in support of Women’s College Hospital (WCH) would not be possible without the many champions of women’s health we have in our corner. We are fortunate to have the support of transformative leaders who share our dedication and determination to revolutionize the healthcare system. KPMG in Canada is an example of such a leading organization.

KPMG has been the Presenting Sponsor of WCHF’s annual signature fundraiser, Women for Women’s, since the event’s inception in 2011. As a brave and longstanding supporter, KPMG has forged a unique path by serving in this capacity for Ontario’s largest event in support of women’s health.

This kind of leadership gets recognized and stirs action in others. Over the years, KPMG has encouraged and motivated numerous other leaders from across multiple sectors to get involved with Women for Women’s as guests, sponsors, and volunteers, supporting the event’s rapid growth and impact. The 2024 event alone raised a record-breaking $900,000, bringing its cumulative total to more than $6.5 million in support of the work of WCH.

In addition to their dedicated title sponsorship of Women for Women’s, KPMG further cemented its philanthropic support during the event’s live “fund-a-need moment” with a surprise announcement of a $140,000 pledge in commemoration of WCH’s 140th anniversary. This money went towards the Catalyst Fund, which provides vital funding for WCH to help address urgent needs as they arise. Examples of this include:

  • Developing a quick and effective COVID-19 response to keep our community safe and informed
  • Pivoting to virtual care in order to keep from disrupting an already backlogged medical system
  • Allowing safe and easy access to mental health care when people needed it most.

This latest funding commitment builds upon KPMG’s legacy as a generous supporter and ardent advocate for health equity, sharing in WCH’s mission to break down barriers to care.

In 2020, KPMG pledged $1 million to WCH towards initiatives that help propel sustained change in women’s healthcare. With these funds, KPMG helped bring virtual care via the Women’s Virtual program, which supports accelerated, sustained, and equitable recovery for underserved populations and directly helps address inequalities exacerbated by the pandemic. This investment also helped support the founding of the Emily Stowe Society, a revolutionary scholarship and awards program at WCH, which aims to build equity among Canada’s community of health researchers, increasing the amount of research being conducted for women, by women.
